Wow! Don't understand all the negative reviews. After one bad IPL experience (no numbing!!) at a very upscale 6th street 'spa', I took a chance on Urban Dentistry and am really glad I did. Betty is not only exceptionally nice, smart, and funny, but she really knows her work. Her assistant did a super job applying numbing cream and making me wait until it really took effect. Betty's meticulous and carefully covered every area to be treated, stopping to make sure I was comfortable. I was so pleased that I booked another appointment . The final results were a dramatic improvement in skin tone, texture, and color eveness, so now I will go on to have décolleté and hands done . Betty explains everything so carefully, explaining why she recommends certain products over others (and it's not because of cost, but because of results that she sees). Now I'm more than comfortable having her do Dysport and a few other enhancements. All my friends keep telling me how terrific I look - fresh looking, not 'done'. Betty's goal is to make you look great, not fake - a remarkable difference from others in town whose clients look puffy. The office is calm and lovely as well and the office admin couldn't be lovelier or more helpful. They graciously honored my groupon and a living social coupon, the rates for additional services were reasonable. Also, I am kept informed on upcoming deals so I can plan out treatments and stay within my budget.
Run, don't walk to Betty if you want to look your best!!!

Okay... Today I went down to see Betty at Urban Dentistry and Laser Spa. I had my second IPL treatment on my face. I am so happy with the results from the first one I can't imagine what the second one will do... I had freckles and brown spots from sun damage and it's amazing what one treatment did. I don't have to wear foundation anymore to cover up the spots. I am having my second treatment to get the spots that if you look really close you can see and some broken capillaries. I know I am a big chicken when it come to pain but Betty gives you the numbing cream ahead of time and makes it as painless as possible. I trust Betty so when we were talking about Dysport (like botox) I decided to get my frown line in between my eyebrows injected. I will update how it turns out... After the injection Betty then moved on the laser hair removal. She did my bikini area first and then under arms. Betty is so professional I never felt uncomfortable. Betty is easy to talk to while she is doing her work. I am so happy to have found Betty I probably never would have ever done anything with a laser but I know Betty knows her stuff... I made my next appointment already... :)

I took advantage of a Groupon to visit Urban Dentistry and Laser Spa. Betty did an IPL treatment on my neck and chest, and I got a shot of the botox-like medicine in my forehead. I am pleased with my results and am going back soon for my second IPL. Betty answered all of my questions and we discussed a plan before any treatment. I knew it would take more than one IPL for my neck/chest, so I planned for that. With any dentistry or cosmetic treatment, your exam can result in things you did not know about. That is to be expected.

I can't say enough about this place...exceptional service, great staff, relaxing and beautiful office and so much more! Dr. Urban and her staff are fantastic!! During my consultation for my skin concerns, Allison was very attentive and knowledgeable in helping me decide which treatments I should have done to help me achieve my skin care needs . I have never had any laser treatments for my skin done before and she made me feel totally comfortable. I am very pleased with my visit at Urban Laser Spa!

I have been going to Dr. Urban at Urban Dentistry for about a year now for all of my dental services and I have been so pleased! I was even more pleased to find out that she opened up a laser spa to take care of all my skincare needs in the same office. I went in recently for a free consultation about some skin concerns I had and had such a pleasant experience. The staff was so friendly and informative. I was nervous about having Botox done for the first time and Allison was so knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. She did such a wonderful job making me look years younger! I would definitely recommend Urban Dentistry & Laser Spa to anyone looking to have cosmetic skincare treatments done by medically trained and certified professionals, as well as general and cosmetic dental care. Awesome experience!

This is late in coming as I went to see Betty last year for an IPL photofacial due to purchasing a groupon for it to get rid of some sun damage on my face. I'm not really sure why people say the receptionist is rude. I've had two treatments there and both times she was pleasant and friendly. Maybe there's another person for dentistry? On the initial visit both the receptionist and Betty took a look at my skin to make sure I would benefit from IPL. Betty was wonderful at answering any questions I had and making me relax and advising me of aftercare and what to expect before I started getting zapped. Sort of felt like a a hot staple being flung at my face. Not pleasant, but not an ordeal either.
I had two very dark spots and after two treatments they are barely seen. I liked them so much I recommended this place to one of my friends for the same procedure and she also loves the results!
So if you're looking for IPL Photofacials I highly recommend this place, as Betty is a total sweetheart, and while a bit expensive, you get the full value for your money.

I hate dentist visits due to a bad experience when I was younger. The dentist had their assistant hold me down while he shoved needles in my gums. I guess I should count my luckys that he didn't shove anything else in my mouth.
Today I had to get a deep cleaning and a filling.
I got 13 shots in my mouth, and Dr. Urban administered them with very little pain. I almost felt nothing- and who can relax with a big silver needle in their mouth? When I did feel some pain from the deep cleaning I thought "I DESERVE THIS!" because Im kind of an A**hole. But the pain was very little in comparison to how much of an A**hole I am.
It is pricey and they do recommend some other treatments that may seem unnecessary, but have you ever seen someone with really shi**y teeth? If you really want to go all out and feel confident you are getting what you pay for- go see Dr. Urban. If you just need to get some regular work because you are a diligent little flosser, then go to a regular ass dentist. There sure as sh*t ain't anything wrong with that. My teeth were jacked, i needed a savior. Amy Urban gave me a pretty smile (no really, I've been steadily in the damn mirror looking at my chompers ever since the anesthetic wore off), and she is so very pleasant. I hate small talk and stupid pleasantries, but Dr. Urban is so genuinely interested in getting your teeth clean. Actually, the whole staff is really nice. Again, I am an a**hole- so I usually just hate on everybody- it's easier that way.
Oh, and they give you sunglasses so that you don't have to stare at that bright ass light when your in the chair. Do all dentists do that? I felt like I was taking care of business and that the business was taking care of me.

Urban Dentistry is absolutely awesome. The office itself is very relaxing and well decorated. Amy Urban is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She spent a lot of time with me, and answered all of my questions in great detail. She noticed and addressed some of my concerns about some dark spots on my teeth which my previous dentist just called "stains", which were actually the beginnings of cavities from back when I had braces that had since calcified over.
Dr. Urban does not have a hygienist and does all of the cleanings herself. After having a (quite expensive) deep periodontal cleaning, she called me later that evening to make sure I was doing OK. I think she genuinely cares for her patients, and it shows in her practice. They even take the time to show you how to correctly brush in order to get below the gum line. Considering the high rate of periodontal disease in the US, I found this quite progressive.
My friend went here during a big day of layoffs at work to get a root canal done. Talk about a crappy day. Even considering, he said he was feeling pretty good, and headed off to a blind date after work. I've never had a root canal, but from what I hear its not something you'd normally feel all up and happy about going for a date after having one. Clearly, she did a good job.
To me, its worth the slight extra money I have to pay for going out of my insurance network for the peace of mind and care that I get here. I can't wait for my next visit.

I LOVE Dr. Urban. She is professional, fair and absolutely ethical.
I read the review from "Tom" after I had my first appointment at Urban Dentistry last fall and also being fairly new to Austin, probably would have gone somewhere else had she not come so highly recommended. All I can say is "Tom" is either a competitor or has terrible teeth and needs a therapist.
That said, I am so grateful to have a new family dentist and would recommend her to my closest friends

I can't say enough great things about Urban Dentistry and Laser Spa. Dr. Urban greeted me and made the comfortable the moment I walked in the door. I came in with a toothache so I was in pain and TERRIFIED. Her shot did not hurt at all-I am not even sure if she gave me one. When the numbness wore off, the pain was all gone. I don't know why I waited so long-never again. Dr. Urban is my new hero. If you don't have a dentist, go to her. If you do have a dentist, go to her anyway!

Dr. Urban and her staff are incredible. They made me feel right at home and were sure to educate me not only on what needed to be done by why and any options that I had. I've been to a couple of dentists in Austin to find that they're honesty is questionable at best and they're service lack care. The staff at Urban Dentistry make you feel like a part of the family. I even got kisses from the dog after my procedure and a personal phone call from Dr. Urban later in the evening, from her home, just to make sure I was doing okay and to see if I needed anything. You cant beat this team. I will never go anywhere else

I found Dr. Urban from an internet search. Urban Dentistry had a really safe feeling the second I walked in the door-it didn't even feel like a dentist office. I was absolutely terrified but Dr. Urban made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. She seemed very state-of-the-art. She also seemed to have a minimalist approach to dentistry. I have a filling that another dentist wanted to replace and she said it was fine. I highly recommend Urban Dentistry.

I have been going to Dr. Urban for many years. She is very knowledgeable and talks candidly about my teeth and gums. I have an area of gum recession that I've been worrying about for years. Dr. Urban measures it each time and discusses the options with me. My last visit with her was Mar 29 and the recession has finally progressed to a point where is has to be surgically corrected. :( I am thankful to Dr. Urban for closely monitoring the area and keeping me informed about it. She is very vigilant about preventing periodontal disease and has given me many tips to prevent it. So, I don't have any. My goal is to keep my teeth so clean that when I go to see her she doesn't have to do much...makes me proud. ;-) If you or someone you know has bad breath. it's probably due to some degree of periodontal disease. Who wants bad breath? For the first time on the last visit I also had an appointment with the aesthetician at the laser spa. She is great! We did Dysport, which is a new brand of Botox and had some laser skin treatments and a photofacial. The laser does hurt a bit, but I like the results. It got rid of some gross veins on my legs and spots on my face. It is a small low-key practice that remembers me each time I go in and I really feel like I'm getting personal attention. Very professional and extremely clean. Oh, and there is covered parking in the back which is nice since I have a black car which soaks up the sun. In Austin, I'm always looking for a shady parking spot.
